IMax was first made by experimental Canadian filmmakers who made a multi screen cinema with surround sound in the early 70s and was originally only used for documentaries and slower passed films as the large size of IMax cameras limited what could film but this all completely changed with Christopher Nolan who found new ways to use the large clunky imax cameras in action sequence as seen in films like interstellar and the dark knight which he used to enhance his films giving them all an extra layer of depth and more immersive than ever before really starting the boom of imax and films being made for imax, this effect can be seen even today with films like avengers infinity war still using imax to further enhance there films
