Arabs faced fierce opposition by the Byzantines and certain Berber tribes but, Arab committed to reconquered the territory which they lost to Kusayla (a king in Tilimsan). Hassan b. al-Nu'man even got harassed by by a Berber revolt led by al-Kahina. Towards the end, he survived and succeeded in vanishing the resistance, both from the Berbers and Byzantine. He also recaptured Carthage (Battle of Carthage) and founded Tunis which later became Arabs' fleet's in Maghrib.
