He opposed the death penalty, but he played the most important role in the execution of Louis xvi. Robespierre was a great figure in the French revolution, but the French did not like him, so they ordered his arrest. He was arrested along with his brothers, st-just, Francois Hanriot and Le Bas. They were guillotined the next day.
