Ogden was sent north to find a new HBC post named Fort Simpson near the mouth of the Nass River in British Columbia. He was also able to manage an outpost on the south coast of Alaska. He derected a fur post at Fort Vancouver during the 1840s. Then Ogden fought against America American Fur Competition, and successfully negotiated with local native tribes, including the Cayuse.
