Stakeholder Tom Frieden, MD, MPH, is a past director of the CDC and past Commissioner of the NYC Health Dept. He wrote his article highlighting his opinion on how the purpose of sugar taxes are valid, and are having the desired effects on public health. He believes that the soda taxes may be a saving grace for obesity rates, and that they have economic and educational benefits as well.
