2 gen 1492 anni - The fall of Granada
Descrizione:
Through the Treaty of Granada which was signed in 1491, its ruler named King Muhammad XII officially surrendered the territory to Ferdinand and Isabella in 1492, signaling the final act in the Reconquista as well as the end of 800 years of Moorish rule at the last Muslim stronghold of the Iberian Peninsula which was Granada. The Christian soldiers hung a giant silver cross, together with their banners and flags, all over Granada to announce their victory against the Muslims and later on, the last Muslim ruler was exiled by being driven away to the Alpujarra mountains. The event is recognised as significant as the Christians had finally accomplished their mission of driving the Moors out of Spain through expulsion and forced conversion.
