This was a treaty between the United States government and the six nations of the Iroquois Confederacy that ceded Native American land to the Americans. This treaty was a result of the Treaty of Paris in 1783 where Britain gave America all of its land claims south of Canada. However, the Native Americans were not present which caused Americans to move onto British territory that was actually owned by the Native Americans, in this case the Iroquois. This westward expansion led to many more treaties and conflicts over the following years.
