1 gen 1892 anni - George Albert Smith acquired the lease to St Ann's Well Garden in Hove

Descrizione:

He turned the garden into a film factory and is where many of his early films are set. At the gardens he pioneered many film making techniques such as close ups and Kinemacolor which was the first commercially viable colour film process. Smith also became a pioneer of editing, experimenting with cutting film together and double exposure.

Kinemacolor was one of Smith's most important inventions as it showed that colour could be captured in film. The process involved a rotating disc that was half red and half green that would rotate in front of the shutter as it captured the footage.
