7 ottob 1763 anni - Proclamation of 1763

Descrizione:

The Proclamation of 1763 was passed to prevent fighting between the British and Native Americans that would threaten trade in Western territory the British acquired from the French as a result of the Treaty of Paris. The Proclamation forbade settlement beyond a line draw along the Appalachian Mountains. The Proclamation of 1763 was appealing to the British because it would allow London to control western land, rather than provincial governments.. With them in control, they could slow westward expansion, which would avoid conflicts with Indian tribes. It would also force most colonists to stay in coastal cities, where the British had made most of their investments. The western land would also be reserved for land speculation and fur trade for the English instead of colonial entrepreneurs. This was one of the first events causing colonial resentment towards the British.
