The 3rd Estate stormed Bastille looking for weapons because they believed that king was going to use military force to break up the National Assembly. They killed the prison guards and paraded through the streets with their heads on pikes. This signified that the 3rd Estate was stronger than anyone from the upper estates previously believed.
