John Logie Bird had been attempting the invention of the television several times and he eventually was able to create a live, moving, black and white television image from reflected light. He was the first to invent the TV and set up the Baird Television Development Company in 1928 making the first television programme for the BBC. This was very significant because it set the groundings for the development of further television sets and inventions. The phrase '"Video killed the radio star" was important as it represented the degrading of popularity in the use of radios against TV's and meant that more people purchased and used TV's over radios. This was significant to the impact of tv and film because more people were able to view film/tv from their homes rather than visiting the cinema. Therefore the TV was a massive jump forward in the development of viewing film and TV, as it encouraged more people to join the industry.
