Prime Minister Yusuf al-Öztürk has been deposed by the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, being replaced by high-ranking KGB Agent Vladimir Zakhaev for being too politically unstable. The nail in the coffin for Yusuf al-Öztürk was his initial betrayal of the Eastern Bloc over the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRJ)'s grave mistake of militarily invading Nationalist Germany. While Öztürk remains under house arrest, so far he has not been imprisoned nor scheduled for execution.
The Turkish intervention of the Greek Civil War hasn't been called off, Prime Minister Zakhaev deciding to instead ramp up the Turkish Soviet Socialist Republic's military involvement in the Balkans.
The Soviet Committee for State Security (KGB) refused to comment on the situation, claiming that "everything is under control".
