In 1547 Ivan iV the “Terrible” was crowned czar of Russia’. After being crowned he lead the Rus’ to invade the Khanates of Kazan, Astrakhan and Siberia. After this he formed the nation of Russia. He made the Russians a military powerhouse. But he was believed to be mentally ill and had every so often violent outbursts. One of these occurred on November 6, 1581 in a violent outburst he killed his son.
