30 giug 1945 anni - John von Neumann Published "First Draft of a Report on the EDVAC"
Descrizione:
The First Draft of a Report on the EDVAC (commonly shortened to First Draft) is an incomplete 101-page document written by John von Neumann. It contains the first published description of the logical design of a computer using the stored-program concept, which has controversially come to be known as the von Neumann architecture.
2.Before IAS machine there was ENIAC. The programs you write had to manage the memory and data. The Von Nuemann architecture, is a great design where the programmers just have to worry about the instructions part, memory was managed efficiently, for general purposes.
1.The von Neumann system is significant. The "Memory" holds both data and also the program processing that data, now RAM.The "Control Unit" manages the process of moving data and program into and out of memory and also executing program instructions. The "ALU" was responsible for calculation tasks on the data. The "Input/Output" makes program interactive.
2. Due to this architecture, the CPU was able to fetch any instruction residing in the memory and executing it, thus it allowed the CPU to execute different types of programs, as supplied by the user providing flexibility which was absent from earlier architecture, the computing machines did not have fixed programs anymore.
