Chile, claiming sovereignty over Coats Land, attempted an intervention by force to assume control over Delporte. 3 civilian miners in Port Vandaele are killed and another 5 are injured. The European powers put an end to this and establish Delporte as a Condominium between Great Britain, France and Belgium. To prevent future loss of life in the territory, a small army [400 men] is established and a government is put into effect.

England, France, Portugal, Chile, and Belgium also establish colonies in Antarctica, mainly for prestige; though the British Colony does set up a few settlements in the northern peninsula and surrounding islands.
