Following the secession of the deep south, Texas seceded but remained out of the Union. Operating a defensive war, the Texan government would face battles with both the Union government and the CSA, who attempted to force them to join the Confederation.

Acting as a third side in the conflict, Texas would avoid much conflict until the end of the war, as the United States was operating under a "One Conflict at a time" policy. However immediately after the surrender of the Deep South, all troops not occupying the former Confederacy were sent to Texas.

Immediately upon their arrival to the Second Republic of Texas, they received a message from Texan President Houstan, offering to enter negotiations. In which he offered total surrender under the condition of amnesty for all Texans.

The Union accepted, having just finished fighting the largest war in their history. Texas was breifly occupied, but regained Statehood before 1870.
