The Gallipoli Campaign began with a failed naval attack by the British and France ships on the Dardanelles Straits and continued with a major land invasion of the Gallipoli peninsula. The Allied powers were attempting to secure and control a sea route from Europe to Russia during World War One. The attempt failed and The Campaign began as the Near East started to fight back, protecting their land.
