In some contexts this meant ‘dazed’ or ‘bewildered’. In 1672 two men <i>turned their mother out of doores who wandered in the night drazled and amazed,</i> Halifax (OH3/190). At the Quarter Sessions, in 1690, Martha Thornton of Idle was accused of an assault in which she took a man <i>by the hair … knocked his head against a Cupboard and threw him violently down</i>. He testified that he could remember nothing, as <i>he was so amazed with the fall</i> (QS1/29).
