A piece of armour which protected the body. A muster roll records the possession of such a piece. 1586 <i>John Appleyarde, a corslet</i> (MM/C/18). It was the subject of an agreement in 1591 when John Appleyard passed it on to his son George: <i>and George shall pay such subsidies and ... beare the charges of one corslette which the said John standeth charged withal</i>, Dalton (YDK14). It was evidently considered to be a valuable item. In a reference from 1637 John Bedford of Crownest in Dewsbury bequeathed to his son Robert <i>one corslet with the pike thereto belonging</i> (FACccxx).
