In a Quarter Sessions case in 1669 Robert Webster of Carlton said that sheep had been stolen from him, and named two suspects <i>for that upon a search made by the Constable ... in their houses hee ... found ... severall parcells of skin wooll for which they</i> [could] <i>give no good accompts</i>, Monk Bretton (QS1/9/2).
