A peach grafted on a quince. One of several spellings of ‘melocoton’ found in the accounts of Richard Cholmeley of Brandsby. He experimented with it in the 1620s, planting the ‘stones’ and sending to London for young trees: 1620 <i> Yonge trees bought on William Oliver cosin 2 malacotones cost vs; An other bedd next it agane sowen with malacatowne stones </i> (NYRO44/187,189).
