One example has been noted: 1445-6 <i>ij carucatas meremij et lapidum de stauro praedictæ fabricæ, viz ij ligna et centas lapides vocatas Baystones</i>, Beverley (ERAS7/66). If these were stones on which the columns of the building rested it is possible that ‘base-stones’ was intended.
