Anti- Spanish feelings in Cuba led to a revolution to overthrow the Spanish Government in 1895. Jose Marti led the revolution. America did not enter the war, until the hostilities of the aftermath of the internal explosion of the USS Maine in Havana Harbor. this indeed lead to US intervention in the Cuban war for independence.
