On March 12th, 1947 the Truman Doctrine was issued by President Harry S. Truman to combat the growing communism in the world and even in the United States. The Doctrine stated that it would combat all communism growing around the world and it also asked for Congress to grant Truman the power to assist Greece and Turkey from the encroaching communism wave that could take over each country. The doctrine set up the United States ideals throughout the next years in the Cold War and how it would be about the US containing the USSR’s growth of communism.
