In Montgomery, Alabama, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white man and was therefore arrested. After this incident, leaders of the black community, such a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., helped organize a bus boycott that ended up lasting over a year. This led to bus segregation being deemed unconstitutional.
