During the last year of WWll, the Allies were getting ready to invade the Japanese mainland. It was anticipated to be a very bloody battle. The Allies tried to warn Japan and get them to surrender unconditionally or they would face “utter destruction”. Japan decided to ignore this ultimatum and as a result, the U.S. went on with their plan and bombed Hiroshima with their new uranium bomb called Little Boy. Still Japan would not surrender so three days later, Fat Man, a plutonium bomb, was dropped on Nagasaki. These atomic bombs, the first of their kind, elialated the area, killing between 90,000 and 146,000 people in Hiroshima and 39,000 to 80,000 people in Nagasaki.
