8 members of 'Black September' took part of the Olympic Village. They killed 2 Israeli athletes and kept the other 9 hostage. They demanded the release of 234 Palestinian prisoners from Israel.

German negotiators agreed a plan to fly the terrorists and hostages to an Arab country, but the West German police tried to free the hostages at the airport. All 9 remaining athletes and 5 of the terrorists were killed in the battle. The remaining 3 terrorists were taken prisoner.

The Palestinian problem had once again been seen by the world.

Israel's Mossad launched Operation Wrath of God to assassinate suspected Palestinian terrorists ('Black September' and the PLO) across the world.
