6 sett 1970 anni - Dawson's Field hijackings
Descrizione:
The PFLP was a new Palestinian terrorist group who wanted the world to take notice of the Palestinian problem.
During a week in September, the PFLP carried out 4 hijackings of international flights. They landed the planes at Dawson's Field, a remote airfield in Jordan.
They took the Jewish passengers as hostages. They didn't kill anyone, but they did blow up the planes with the world's media watching. Israel was forced to free 4 PFLP prisoners.
This was a sign of Israel's submission, which was rare at the time. It also made the Palestinian problem international, and inspired future attacks.
