1 ottob 1087 anni - William Rufus crowned king, 1087
Descrizione:
Opposition:
Many people believed Robert should've been crowned king as it was Norman tradition that the eldest son received all of their father's land. Many people who held lands in both England and Normandy believed it would be difficult to serve two different lords.
Odo and his brother led a rebellion against William Rufus in the name of Robert. Odo thought he could use Robert's weaknesses to his advantage and gain more power.
Many of the Norman aristocrats and much of the public were against Odo's rebellion. He took refuge in Pevensey Castle, which William Rufus laid siege to for 6 weeks and he captured both his uncles, and Odo was exiled .
