CAUSES:
- The Czech leader was Novotny, a soviet puppet, who was very unpopular with the public.
- In 1962-63, the National Insurance fell. The Czech economy seemed to be run purely for the benefit of the USSR.
- Novotny was replaced by Dubcek, a reforming communist.
WHAT HAPPENED:
- Dubcek promised a set of reforms known as the Prague Spring and branded as 'Socialism With A Human Face'
- The reform aimed to improve the standard of living, introduce trade with the FDR and allow a greater freedom
- Dubcek tried to reassure Brezhnev that they wouldn't leave the Warsaw Pact or threaten the stability of the USSR.
CONSEQUENCES:
- The main and biggest consequence is by far the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia and intern the consequences of that.
