The Tet Offensive was a coordinated series of North Vietnamese attacks on more than 100 cities in South Vietnam. The attacks were an attempt to foment rebellion among the South Vietnamese population and to encourage the United States to scale back its involvement in the Vietnam War. The Tet Offensive was a victory for North Vietnam and a turning point during the war. It also marked the slow and painful withdrawal of the United States from the war.
