28 magg 1830 anni - Indian Removal
Act
Descrizione:
This Jacksonian policy, passed by Congress and supported by the majority of Americans, led to the forceful removal of some 100,000 Native Americans from the Southeast across the Mississippi to Oklahoma. Some 15,000 Georgia Cherokees who resisted this policy were force marched by U.S. troops in the winter of 1838-1839 and 4,000 died en-route; (pneumonia, hunger, exposure, etc.,) Perhaps this event reflects the deep seated racism that is prevalent in so much of U.S. history?
