Descrizione:

the 24th amendment was ratified by the states. the amendment prohibits the taxation at polls to vote during federal elections. the last state to ratify the amendment was South Dakota on January 23, causing the amendment to go into effect. when the amendment was ratified Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Texas, and Virginia still had poll taxes in order to keep blacks from voting. Mississippi was the only state to reject the amendment.
