Air raids became more frequent as the war came to Hull between 19th and 20th June 1940.

My Grandma and her family had to start getting used to sleeping in their Anderson Shelter. It was very noisy - bombs exploding, but even more noise from the gun batteries firing at the aircraft. They were issued with rubber ear plugs to stop their ear drums shattering.
