The Egyptian Revolution of 1952 was a coup carried out by the Free Officers Movement. Its goal was to overthrow King Farouk, end corruption, reduce British influence, and establish a modern nationalist government. On 23 July, officers seized key locations in Cairo and Alexandria and overthrew King Farouk's monarchy. The coup marked the end of the monarchy handled to the creation of the Republch of Egypt in 1953. It also set the stage for social and economic reforms, including land redistribution and the rise of Gamal Abdel Nasser as a central political figure in Egypt.
