The Iranian parliament voted to nationalize the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company. Shortly after, Mohammed Mossadegh was elected the champion of nationalization. Under U.S. pressure, the AIOC improved its offer to Iran. The U.S. accept the view of British government that no reasonable compromise with Mosaddeq because the chance of a Soviet takeover.
