15 giug 1767 anni - Townshend Acts June 15–July 2, 1767

Descrizione:

The Townshend Acts were a series of acts passed by the British Parliament in 1767 and were spearheaded by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Charles Townshend. The acts placed duties on glass, lead, paints, paper and tea imported into the colonies. The duties collected through these acts were used to pay for the salaries of governors and judges in America. By paying the salaries of these officials and not having the colonial assemblies paying the salaries, it ensured their loyalty to the crown.
