It was the split between Chinese and Soviet alliance. It started when the working class in Russia rebelled and the Chinese did not. The Soviet Union provided support to the TIbetan people which angered the Chinese. Another cause was that Mao Zedong was resentful of the new Soviet leaders. This would later lead on to an alliance with the U.S.
