It was a way for the U.S. to prove supremacy over the Soviet Union . Apollo 11 was on the mission to complete the first lunar landing. On board was Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. This accomplishment brought pride and unionship in the U.S. The U.S. ‘won’ the space race.
