- Chancellor can introduce new laws by decree including changing the constitution
- supposed to be temporary (for four years)
- The Reichstag supported the Enabling Act by 444 votes to 94*
- However the SA was harassing voters in the Reichstag and threatening opposition to not vote against 'people's will'
- centre party bribed with promises related to the catholic church some simply agreed with NSDAP
Article 2 —> The national laws enacted by the Reich Cabinet may deviate from the Constitution as long as they do not affect the position of the Reichstag and the Reichsrat. The powers of the President remain undisturbed.
