After Malcolm X broke from the Nation of Islam and criticized its leader, he started receiving death threats and publicly stated that he believed he would be killed soon. Just a few days later, during a speech at the Audubon Ballroom in Harlem, Malcolm X was fatally shot by three members of the Nation of Islam.
