After Iraq fails to comply with UNSCOM, the US under President Clinton begins a 2-day bombing campaign of military and security facilities in the country called Operation Desert Fox. With its planning earlier in the year, the operation receives criticism both in the US and from other countries. Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates refuse to allow the use of its bases to the US for its bombing campaign.
