Odoacer had enough support from the soldiers that he was able to take control, he took over the western emperor, which was 14, and no Roman emperor ruled from Rome ever again. From then on foreign powers ruled what has been the Roman Empire. In the eastern Mediterranean, the eastern Roman Empire thrived it became known as as the Byzantine Empire and lasted nearly 1,000 more years.
