After receiving the land following the Six Day War, Jordan surrenders its claims to land in the West Bank and East Jerusalem to the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), the official coalition that speaks for the people of Palestine. The PLO also denounces violence, recognizes Israel's right to exist, and acknowledges Resolution 242. This opens talks between the PLO and the US, which are suspended following a Palestinian terrorist attack against Israel.
