1 gen 200000 anni a. C. - Breaking Up of Pangea

Descrizione:

Pangea was once a giant landmass, combining all of today's modern continents together into one big supercontinent. However, due to tectonic movements, the supercontinent begant to slowly separate, causing a variety of effects. For example, the spearation of the landmass caused isolation within species, becoming the driving force for biodiversity and evolution at the time. This allowed for new and unique ecosystems to be created, creating new adaptations for organisms and better environments for them to live in (10). These movements of the land also created new geological formations, such as mountain ranges and new oceans. The breakup also influnced the sea levels and the separation and distribution of marine species across the planet. Lastly, the atmosphere experienced differing wind patterns and climates as a result of the breakup of the continent, leading to the creation of regional differences in temperature and rainfall.
