1 gen 2300000 anni a. C. - Emergence of Eukaryotes
Descrizione:
Eukaryotes first emerged on the earth around 2.31bya, evolving from simpler organisms (prokaryotic cells) (6). This was done through endosybiosis, a process where one cell engulfs another, evolving the engulfed cell into organelles. Doing this impacted many of the spheres. For example, the biosphere flourished after eukaryotes diversified. This created a variety of new ecosystems, as these new organisms occupied niches, interacting with each other. These new eukaryotic organisms would also begon to start changing the atmosphere, contributing to the increase in oxygen through photosynthesis. This new founded oxygen created more banded iron formations by reacting with iron, which is shown by the layer left in the Earth's geology. As eukaryotes like algae evolved, they impacted the hydrosphere by becoming the main producers in oceans, forming the basis of food chains and aiding in the distribution of oxygen in water.
