As of today, around 67% of the world, or over 5.4 billion people, have access to the internet and this number continues to rise. The internet has gone from a small project to connect around 100 to 1000 computers to a complicated network of billions of computers and electronic devices with near infinite capabilities and constantly improving features. In terms of accessibility, not only is it available to more than half the world, but those who previously were unable to benefit from it such as those with physical disabilities are enjoying the integration of features such as the page narrator and descriptive subtitles to name a few. On top of that, with the surge of AI and AI research we can expect the internet to evolve much more in the future, whether that be for better or for worse.
