June 18th 1812 America signs a declaration of war against the British Empire. Some historians speculate they did this because of expansionism (wanting more territory), and from Canadians trading guns with the natives (first nations) which would be a threat to them, this would be a threat because the natives were mad at them for taking their territory and would want to take it back.
July 17th 1812 The British capture fort Mackinac without a single shot being fired. The capture of the fort also meant the capture of the island.
August 5th 1812 A small force of British and 25 native warriors under the command of general Tecumseh ambush 200 Americans at Brownstown (located near present day Gibraltar). The battle was a British victory.
August 16th 1812 American general Hull surrenders Detroit to the British although having a much larger force and much more supplies.
October 13th 1812 The battle of Queenston heights. Americans attack Queenston in a battle that resulted in the death of famed Canadian general, Sir Isaac Brock. The battle also resulted in the deaths of 300 British and Americans as well as 950 Americans being captured and taken as prisoners of war/ P.O.W's.
April 28th 1913 American forces attack York (present day toronto) successfully taking the city. American forces later burned down the city and its parliament buildings. The occuring battle also resulted in 514 casualties for both sides.
May 25th-27th 1813 Americans attack fort george in an attempt to take it, they succeed at doing this as well as taking 280 prisoners. The battle that occured resulted in the deaths of 148, as well as over 350 being wounded.
December 10th-11th American forces under the command of brigadier general George Mcclure are ordered to burn down the city of niagara.
December 18th-19th British forces surprise the U.S forces with a night raid on fort Niagara. They succeed and fort Niagara is under British control for the rest of the war.
August 24th-25th 1914 British forces burn down America's capital Washington, DC and the white house as revenge for the Americans burning down York and Niagara.
August 4th 1914 American forces try to retake Mackinac island. They fail when the battle ends in a successful British battle. They wanted to retake the island because of how much influence it would have over the natives.
24th of December 1814 American and British leaders sign the treaty of Ghent creating the Canadian-American borders that we see today.
June 24th The first nation ambush an American unit in which they succeed. The ambush that took place resulted in 464 Americans being captured.
October 26th 1813 American forces commence an attack on a group of Canadian militia and some first nations warriors at lower Chateauguay river. The battle ended in an American defeat and both sides combined had little over 100 casualties.
