8 mars 1862 - The Battle Comes to an End On March 8, 1862, after General Curtis assembled his army the Union counterattacked the Confederates pushing them back. Eventually the Confederates ran out of ammunition and they surrendered abandoning the battle field. The Union now had control of the border state of Missouri.
