5 mars 1946 - 5th March 1946: Churchill delivers Iron Curtain speech.
In Missouri, Churchill delivers a speech declaring that Europe
had been divided by an 'Iron Curtain', meaning the Soviets
extended their influence to the west and were not permitting
democracy in the east.
Truman realised that without US assistance, Europe was at
risk from communist expansion. The majority of Europe was
economically crippled following the war and needed help.
